The Ugliness of the Inward Gaze

To look inward
Is to slowly rot.
Self-absorption
Bathes in nasal snot.
Thoughts of grandeur
Large, when entertained,
Shrink to littleness
On the main.

Hey there Mr Picklesworth ... I hope that this is not an expression of ones self ... because your inner self is so not ugly!!
Sorry I've not been by in a while ... have had a lot of turbulence in my life over the last 6 weeks! Hope all is well in your neck of the woods!

Katherine, alas, but yes. Luther called it that the "incurvatus sei," being turned in on oneself.

It sounds like life has been a little more turbulent than you'd like. I know what you mean about the state of the world; it can be troubling. Nevertheless, as the old hymn says, "My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness." On that basis I dare to hope a great deal.
