Gravel (A poem that is brutally lousy... on purpose.)

What is gravel
But some rock bits
Tossed about like...
Uh... bits of rock?

What is beach sand
But some teeny
Weeny Little
Tiny, uh... rock?

A lonely mineral once met with other lonely minerals
Joined in the forge of earth
It became granite, marble, slate, quartz, or shale

Resting there until called by man or nature
To become
A great monument or a beach
Or perhaps just road covering to dent a car?

John, it sure is tough to be a lonely mineral! At the end of the road will you be exulted? Or will you just sigh, "I coulda been a contender?"
