Fire Escape

When fire comes
I'm sure to be ready
I'll leap out my window
And scramble right down.
The fire escape
Is wrought iron steady,
A marvel of science,
The jewel in the crown
Of any good building.
I'm sure you'll agree,
A beautiful thing
When you're trying to flee.

I agree with you there...there are no building with fire escapes in the city where I live in QLD. All the stairs are internal...go figure...These days it's all about what's aesthetically pleasing and less about common sense.

Katherine, believe it or not, I DO find fire escapes aesthetically pleasing! It evokes a different time and I just love that.
